Egymást formáljuk - A Leopold Bloom Művészeti Alapítvány gyűjteménye

A Leopold Bloom Művészeti Alapítvány 2023-ban hozta létre műgyűjteményét, amelyet 2024-től a Szombathelyi Képtár őriz és állít ki évenkénti rendszerességgel. A harmadik kiállítás azokból a művekből válogat, amelyek frissen kerültek a gyűjteménybe, párbeszédbe helyezve ezeket a kollekció korábbi darabjaival.
Az Egymást formáljuk című kiállítás a gyűjtemény azon műveit helyezi fókuszba, amelyek az ember és környezete kapcsolódási pontjait mutatják be, legyen ez a környezet a táj, egy-egy természeti elem, a városi tér vagy a tárgyi kultúránk.
A táj elemeire, az emberi test és a természet működésének hasonlóságaira mutatnak rá Csapó Júlia és Szabó Nóra művei, míg Dezső Tamás, Hajas Katinka és Mézes Tünde a természet konkrét elemeiben (az égbolt változásában, egy rózsatüskében vagy akár egy vízcsepp útjában) látják meg az életünkre vonatkoztatható tanulságokat. A város és az épített környezet adja Nemes Csaba, Koós Gábor és Molnár Judit Lilla műveinek gerincét, Máté Dániel és Kiss Adrian pedig használati tárgyaink és testünk viszonyát vizsgálja. Fusz Mátyás és Papp Ida Zsuzsanna gipszből készült alkotásai az ember és a körülötte élők kapcsolatát a test hiányában ragadják meg.
A kiállított művek mind azt az állítást járják körül, hogy ember és környezete valójában nem statikusan egymás mellett léteznek, hanem folyamatos változásban vannak, szorosan összefüggnek és egymást formálják.

A Leopold Bloom Művészeti Alapítványról
A Leopold Bloom Képzőművészeti Díjat, a 2011 óta kétévente átadásra kerülő rangos szakmai elismerést az ír műgyűjtő házaspár, Mary Mc Loughlin és John Ward alapította. A díj célja, hogy a magyar művészek nemzetközi szerepléseit támogassa – egyfelől a díj összegéből rendezendő külföldi kiállítással, másrészt az alkalmanként változó, nemzetközi zsűri személyes jelenlétével.
A díjat és a döntősök kiállításait szervező Leopold Bloom Művészeti Alapítvány a kétévenkénti támogatás mellett 2023-ban műgyűjteményt hozott létre, hogy elsősorban fiatal, feltörekvő magyar művészek munkáiból vásárolva folyamatos támogatási formát tudjon biztosítani.
A gyűjteménynek az elkövetkező években a névadó regényhős fiktív felmenőinek szülővárosa, azon belül is a Szombathelyi Képtár ad otthont, egy folyamatosan bővülő, dinamikus állandó kiállítás formájában. A gyűjteményben található műtárgyak együttese szép körképet ad a hazai kortárs képzőművészet sokszínűségéről és kvalitásáról.

Shaping Each Other
The Collection of the Leopold Bloom Art Foundation
 
The Leopold Bloom Art Foundation established its art collection in 2023. Since 2024, the collection has been housed and exhibited annually at the Szombathely Art Gallery. The third exhibition of selected works from the collection presents the latest acquisitions, placed in dialogue with works acquired in earlier years.
The exhibition Shaping Each Other focuses on works from the collection that explore points of connection between humans and their environment, whether that environment is the landscape, a particular natural element, the urban space, or our material culture.
The works of Júlia Csapó and Nóra Szabó draw attention to landscape elements and to similarities in the functioning of the human body and nature, while Tamás Dezső, Katinka Hajas and Tünde Mézes discern lessons applicable to human life in specific phenomena of the natural world (changes in the sky, the thorn of a rose, or even the path of a water droplet). The city and the built environment form the backbone of the works of Csaba Nemes, Gábor Koós, and Judit Lilla Molnár, while Dániel Máté and Adrian Kiss examine the relationship between everyday objects and the human body. The plaster works of Mátyás Fusz and Ida Zsuzsanna Papp grasp the relationship between the individual and the surrounding society through the absence of the body.
All of the exhibited works revolve around the proposition that the humans and their environment should not be regarded as statically coexisting, but instead as a continuously changing, closely interconnected and mutually formative synergy.

About the Leopold Bloom Art Foundation
The Leopold Bloom Art Award, a prestigious professional accolade presented biannually since 2011, was founded by Irish art collectors Mary Mc Loughlin and John Ward. The aim of the award is to back the international participation of Hungarian artists – through an exhibition organised abroad from the prize money, and through the personal presence of an international jury of different composition each time.
The Leopold Bloom Art Foundation – which is responsible for organising the award and the finalists’ exhibitions – in addition to its biannual support, has set up an art collection in 2023 to provide a steady source of backing by purchasing works by predominantly young and emerging Hungarian artists.
In the coming years, the hometown of the fictional ancestors of Joyce’s eponymous protagonist, more specifically, the Szombathely Art Gallery will accommodate the collection in the form of a dynamic and constantly expanding permanent exhibition. The artworks featured in the collection provide a good panorama of the diversity and quality of contemporary art in Hungary.
